Ally Melby

Ally Melby

Ally will be a senior at the University of Wisconsin- Madison this fall where she studies journalism, with an emphasis on reporting & strategic communication and digital studies. After graduation, Ally plans to work in the marketing or advertisement field. When not in class, Ally enjoys brunch with friends, Badger football Saturdays, dancing, and leading her local Her Campus chapter as president.

“Working with the FOX Sports U program was great because it enabled me and my classmates to get real-world experience while in the classroom.”

“The best part of working with the FOX Sports U representatives was the feedback they were able to give us. This was vital and helped my agency perfect our campaign into something we were all proud of.”

“My favorite part of this program was coming together with my agency to develop a sound campaign plan and then present it to a real client. It made the stakes that much higher and pushed us to do a great job.”

 

Ashley Mackens

Ashley Mackens

Ashley Mackens is an alumna of UW-Madison. Graduating in spring 2019, Ashley received her Bachelor of Arts in journalism and strategic communication. She is enjoying her summer at home in Green Bay, Wisconsin spending time with friends and family while applying to full time jobs in big cities across the United States. Ashley is interested in a marketing, communications, or event planning careers in sports, fashion, entertainment or tech industries. She has varied interests and a positive attitude to go wherever the best opportunity takes her! Ashley enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors. Her most recent adventure was to Seattle, Olympic National Park and the Northwest beaches of Washington state.

Megan Otto

Megan Otto

Megan recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Strategic Communication and a certificate in Digital Studies. She currently works as an account coordinator at GMR Marketing, a global experiential marketing agency, headquartered in New Berlin, Wisconsin. At GMR, Megan specifically works on the Comcast/Xfinity team, doing social and digital media work for sports (NFL, MLB, NHL, MLS, NCAA), gaming (eSports), music and entertainment. Apart from working at GMR, Megan enjoys playing soccer in adult co-ed leagues, traveling on the weekends and playing with her golden retriever puppy, Maisy.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of the FOX Sports University program the past two years at UW-Madison. It was such a great opportunity to work with a real client while in school!”

“This year, we worked with the Milwaukee Brewers and Camp Hometown Heroes. This project was close to my heart as Camp Hometown Heroes is from my hometown of Grafton, Wisconsin and is a large part of my community.”

“I am incredibly grateful to the FOX Sports University program because it provided me with experience in the sports industry, which I did not have from other internships or work experiences. This aided me in landing my current job at GMR.”

Madeline Collins

Madeline Collins

Madeline will be a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall, studying journalism, business, and communication arts with a focus in strategic communications. Post graduation, Madeline plans to pursue a career in the advertising or marketing field. While a writer at heart, Madeline has been exploring the world of media through an internship this summer. While not at school or work, Madeline enjoys listening to podcasts, taking dance classes, and finding the best spots to grab a bite to eat. She also enjoys fulfilling her passion for communications through serving as president of UW-Madison’s chapter of the Association for Women in Communications.

Caitlin Wolf

Caitlin Wolf

Caitlin Wolf is a Senior at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Though she does not know exactly where she will end up following graduation, she is excited for all that the future will hold for her! Caitlin loves to be with her family as much as she can, whether that is watching the Milwaukee Bucks, or just laughing at our memories. Caitlin is interested in pursuing a career that allows her to further her passion for analytics and the story that the numbers tell.

Claire Feichtmeier

Claire Feichtmeier

Claire recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in journalism and an emphasis on strategic communications and entrepreneurship. Post-grad, Claire is focused on entering the public relations field, but also enjoying spending the summer on her lake home in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Claire enjoys spending time outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, and obsessing over her golden retriever, Maizie.

Spring 2019 Project Description

Students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison were challenged by FOX Sports University and FOX Sports Wisconsin to develop a PSA campaign along with a fundraising and social media strategy that increases awareness of FOX Sports and emphasizes their relationship with military/ Camp Hometown Heroes.

Deb Pierce

Deb Pierce

Debra Pierce is a Faculty Associate in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, teaching intermediate and advanced Strategic Communications courses.  Debra has made significant contributions to the department’s curriculum innovation in the areas of digital communications, strategy, public relations, and campaign management.  Her courses offer hands-on, high-impact experiential learning that frequently embody the “Wisconsin Idea” – set up as student-based agencies, her classes frequently give back to Wisconsin-based businesses with communication campaign ideas.
