Megan Otto

Megan Otto

Megan Otto, from Grafton, WI, will be a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this upcoming fall, where she is majoring in Journalism with a focus in Strategic Communications. She will also be receiving a certificate in Digital Studies. Megan is pursuing a career in the marketing and advertising fields and is excited for the summer as she is interning at an advertising agency in Milwaukee. Apart from being an avid Badger athletics fan, Megan has a passion for soccer and plays on the UW Women’s Club Soccer Team, enjoys attending live music events and keeps up with everything E! News.

It was such a unique experience to work with FOX Sports University while in class at UW-Madison. I’m incredibly grateful for the hands-on nature of the program.

My favorite part of the program was when my agency came together at the end of the semester to give our final pitch to our client. Final pitches are always daunting, but this was unique in the fact that there was a camera recording our presentation from all angles. The high pressure stakes surprisingly helped us to perform our best!

As a team, we really enjoyed that we had the opportunity to pitch to our FOX Sports clients twice. First, at mid-semester we gave a presentation on our big idea and direction and then, we were able to receive feedback that helped us to solidify our idea and really hone in on what FOX Sports Wisconsin wanted. This feedback was critical to our success.

Daniella Davidoff

Daniella Davidoff

Daniella Davidoff, from San Francisco, CA, recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a focus in Strategic Communications and plans to combine these interests with a career in health communications. This July, Daniella will begin working as a Corporate Communications Specialist at Penumbra, a medical device company located in the Bay Area. In addition to rooting for the UW Badgers and Golden State Warriors, Daniella enjoys trying new foods and traveling the world.

Working with FOX Sports University not only enriched my learning experience in the classroom, but solidified my aspirations of pursuing a career in digital marketing.

One of my favorite parts of this program is that you really get to make it your own. It was so exciting to build our campaign idea from start to finish! The final product couldn’t have been possible without the great feedback we received from our FOX Sports clients.

When I was situated into an agency with five other students I didn’t know the project seemed a bit daunting. However, coming together as a team to execute our idea and give an excellent final pitch has been one of my fondest experiences in college. Thanks FOX!

Sara Lessans

Sara Lessans

Sara is a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she majors in both Psychology as well as Strategic Communications through the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. This summer she is working as an intern at 360i, a digital marketing agency in downtown Chicago. After graduation in December 2018, she plans to move back to Chicago to continue pursuing her interest in marketing and advertising professionally. As a Maryland native, Sara loves eating crabs and playing lacrosse.

This experience was unique and unlike projects I’ve had in other courses, as we had FOX Sports U as a real client. The FOX Sports U program gave us real world, hands-on experience and because of it I feel more prepared and confident going into my career.

Working with FOX Sports U was exciting, challenging, and fun all at the same time. It was particularly beneficial in helping me hone my teamwork skills, as our class agency worked hard to divide the work between us yet perform cohesively as a unit. These skills are invaluable and useful to bring into our future careers.

I appreciated that we were able to meet with the FOX Sports U reps and hear their feedback throughout the semester, as this direct communication was so helpful in developing our strategy and creating a successful campaign.

Maggie Abel

Maggie Abel

Maggie Abel is a recent graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Marketing and a Certificate in Digital Studies. She is currently working for the Forest Stewardship Council US in Minneapolis as a Program Assistant, helping with event planning & management, as well as marketing & business development initiatives. She is passionate about digital marketing and hopes to continue building her career in that field. Outside of work, you can find her reading, spending time with friends & family, or spending a little too much time coming up with the perfect Instagram caption.

Working with FOX Sports gave me hands-on experience I never wouldn’t imagined I’d get while still in school.

While it was definitely challenging, the semester I spent working with FOX Sports University was one of the most rewarding semesters I had at UW Madison.

FOX Sports University not only allows you to gain real-world experience, but it allows you to experience what it is like to be treated as a professional rather than just a student.
