Michael Gloer

Michael Gloer

Michael Gloer is a Marketing and Management double major with a minor in Spanish and a Certificate in International Business entering his senior year at the University of Iowa. This summer, Michael will be a marketing intern for Tailor4Less in Barcelona, Spain. After graduation, Michael seeks to gain experience in international brand management and strategy. His passion for inspiring and helping others to reach their potential combined with his interest in interaction with other cultures drives him to ultimately pursue a career in international marketing and management consulting. In his free time, Michael enjoys travelling, exercising, spending time with friends and family, making and listening to music, and cooking.

Nate Dick

Nate Dick

Nate Dick will be a senior during the 2016-2017 academic school year.  He will be pursuing a degree in Marketing along with a minor in Sports Studies at The University of Iowa. Nate has always had a strong passion for sports, and hopes to one day combine his marketing skills with his love for sports by working for any company centered on athletics. While he is not studying at Iowa, Nate stays involved on campus through his fraternity, Sigma Nu, where he served as the Recruitment Chair of his chapter.

“Working on this project for Fox Sports gave me real-world experience that I could not have gotten in any other classroom. It truly was a privilege to have been a part of such an amazing program.”

“Starting this project with no clear path to take, and to be able to see your group come together and overcome obstacles and be chosen the winners, is truly a rewarding experience that was only made possible by Fox Sports University.”

“Working with Fox Sports was an absolute privilege, but to be able to help Big Ten Network and Mediacom in the same aspect through the same project, is an experience I will never forget.”

Connor Simmo

Connor Simmo

Connor Simmons is an incoming senior from Clive, Iowa, and will be graduating in Spring 2017 from the Tippie College of Business with a BBA in Marketing and a minor in Spanish. During his first year and a half at Iowa, Connor was a member of the Men’s Track and Field and Cross Country teams, and is currently a Marketing and Design staffer for the University of Iowa’s college radio station, KRUI 89.7 FM. Once graduated, Connor plans to combine his knowledge of business and Spanish at a role in the marketing field in a large metro area. His career interests include brand management, product development and marketing research, and one day would like to work as a marketing executive of a corporation. In his free time, Connor enjoys working out, watching and playing sports, attending concerts and music festivals, and travelling as much as possible.

“Working with FOX Sports/Big Ten Network this spring essentially threw my group and I into the real world. We were all able to gain valuable work experience while still in school that we will take with us into our upcoming internships and future jobs.”

“Knowing that our ideas and work could be chosen as the favorite by FOX representatives, let alone potentially implemented into real-life campaigns was all the inspiration our group needed to put our heads together and create something we could be proud of.”

“Simply having the opportunity to work alongside a company as large and well-known as FOX Sports on real tasks was what made this project the most rewarding of any I have ever participated in.”

Eduardo Silva

Eduardo Silva

Eduardo Silva is from Aurora, Illinois and is a May 2017 graduate from the Henry B. Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa. Eduardo expects to graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing Degree. His future career interests fall within sales, consumer packaged goods and healthcare. Eduardo enjoys competing in marketing case competitions, being an active member of the American Marketing Association and learning about his Mexican culture.

“The greatest challenge for our team was for us to add some flare to the BTN2Go project. We did this by thinking large, playing the devil’s advocate and thinking about how to properly interact with the consumers from FOX Sports’ point of view.”

“I had a great experience learning about millennial cable subscription behavior, and found it interesting how the majority of us pay for cable subscriptions only to keep watching live sporting events!”

“I am anxious to see how live TV streaming on mobile applications will help set trends for the millennial demographic in the near future. It is a race against time, and I am thrilled to have been able to share innovative marketing tactics with FOX Sports.”

Spring 2016 Project Description

FOX Sports University challenged students at the University of Iowa to develop strategies and tactics that FOX Sports and Mediacom can employ to showcase, promote and market TV Everywhere products: FOX Sports GO and BTN2GO.


Professor Profile

Peggy Stover

Peggy Stover

A veteran of consumer packaged goods, Peggy Stover brings a wealth of corporate experience to the University of Iowa as a Lecturer and Director of the Marketing Institute. She has a 23 year consumer packaged goods background in marketing, sales and market research at Fortune 500 companies that include Kellogg’s, Kraft Foods, SC Johnson Wax and Coors Brewing.  Peggy also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Marketing at the University of Dubuque.

Peggy has an MPS in Organizational Leadership & Innovation from the University of Denver and a BBA with majors in Finance & Marketing from St. Mary’s University. Peggy has authored and published numerous articles and industry white research papers on consumer and industry trends. In 2008 she was awarded Progressive Grocer Magazine “2008 Rising Star” for her achievements in the CPG industry. Lastly, she was awarded a US Design Patent for a removable jar lid for Soy Basics, LLC., and Anchor Hocking.  Peggy Stover is also president and co-founder of Annex Analytics, a group that helps organizations transform their sales, marketing, and business data into actionable insights and revenue opportunities.
