Kathryn-Lynne Child

Kathryn-Lynne Child

Kathryn is currently a junior advertising major hoping to work in either account management or strategy at an ad agency. She has had the opportunities to intern both at a web development company and an ad agency. Last summer, Kathryn loved studying abroad in Spain and hopes to return. She enjoys creative writing on her blog, swing dancing and making oversized cups of coffee.

“It was really rewarding to be able to work on a real-life campaign in a classroom setting that gave us feedback and encouragement for our current and potentially future work.”

“It was amazing to see our plan drawn up in a classroom actually used by a major company.”

Allison Haines is a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill from Indian Trial, NC double majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication and Exercise and Sport Science. She currently works at UNC Student Stores and in the advertising department at The Daily Tar Heel. After graduation in May 2015, she hopes to pursue a career in sports marketing and communications. In her spare time, Allison enjoys watching sports, hanging out with friends and family, exploring new food spots, and cheering on her Tar Heels.

“It was an incredible experience working with Fox Sports U and my fellow classmates. This was by far one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career.”

“This was a rare opportunity to get real world experience inside the classroom. By the end of the project, my group and I were so proud of what we did and it made us that much more excited about what our career in advertising and marketing will hold.”

“I was so pumped to be able to combine my two passions, sports and advertising, to create a campaign that matters for Fox Sports U.”

“Challenging, educational, and fun. Thank you Fox Sports U for trusting us and allowing us to take our first steps into the industry!”

She pursued a double major in Political Science and Strategic Communication, as well as a minor in Spanish for law. Upon graduating, she will begin a public affairs internship with a major corporation that she hopes will lead to a career. Having grown up outside Washington, D.C., she has a natural affinity for politics and served as Political Director of the UNC Young Democrats. Her favorite sports teams include all Washington D.C. teams, and of course, the Tar Heels.

“Throughout my four years at UNC, I have never had more fun doing a group project. I was proud of the campaign that my team came up with and excited about seeing the final results.”

“The opportunity to work with a major organization like Fox Sports was unique to any other class-sponsored project I’ve ever had; and I’m so grateful for it.”
