Fall 2019 Winners

Samantha Marvy

Samantha Marvy

Samantha graduated in December of 2019 as a double major with degrees in both Journalism, with a focus in Strategic Communication, and Sport Management. Samantha hopes to combine her two passions to work in sports marketing, either in an agency setting or directly with a professional sports team. In her free time, Samantha spends time with friends and family and never turns down an opportunity to go to any and all sporting events but especially likes to root on the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Blackhawks and Minnesota Vikings.

“Working with Fox Sports University gave me a chance to see what my future will potentially look like as I worked on a true sports marketing campaign.”

“I really felt like the Fox Sports University team valued our ideas and opinions. It was amazing to see all the hours and time spent on this project pay off and to see our campaign get recognition on a national stage like Fox Sports.”

“This was great culmination of everything I have learned at the University of Minnesota – getting to put all of my skills to the test and prove I am ready to work in the ‘real-world.’ Special thank you to Fox Sports University and to Professor Steve Wehrenberg for all of the advice and support in completing this campaign.”

Kyra Boland

Kyra Boland

Kyra graduated in December of 2019 after her semester working with Fox Sports. She majored in Strategic Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and a minor in Management. Her dream job is to work in Crisis Communications for a PR agency in a warmer climate than Minnesota. In her free time, you can find her re-reading Harry Potter for the hundredth time, staying active outdoors with her dog (not in the winter), cheering on Minnesota sports, or checking out cool coffee shops to find the perfect iced caramel latte.

“Being able to work with a team was my favorite part. We were constantly challenging ourselves to do better. We never allowed an idea to be ‘good enough.'”

“Having a real client while still being in class took a lot of pressure off the situation. It was still challenging but we got to do whatever we wanted, and it really paid off in the end.”

“Working with Fox Sports was my favorite part about my college experience. It allowed us to really have fun and remember why we love what we’ve been learning.”
