Shannon Tuohy

Shannon Tuohy is from Basking Ridge, NJ and recently graduated from SMU with a BBA in Marketing and a Minor in Psychology. Last summer, she interned for IBM in the Summit Sales Program. In August, she will move to New York City to work for IBM full time. Her interests include cooking, watching sports and traveling internationally.

This project was the perfect mix of challenging and rewarding. We were determined to win, and our hard work paid off in the end!

Working with Fox Sports Southwest was the most hands-on marketing experience I received throughout my time at SMU. It really prepares you for a marketing position.

This experience with Fox Sports has become one of the most unique parts about my resumé. I am so glad that I decided to take this course!

Tess Velar

Tess Velar

Tess is from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She graduated in May 2016 from Southern Methodist University with a BBA in Marketing and BA in Markets and Cultures. After graduation, she will return to SMU to earn her Masters of Science in Business Analytics from the Cox School of Business. She hopes to pursue a career in marketing research and analytics in the consumer goods or entertainment industry.


The FOX Sports University program offers students a chance to work on real life projects that impact the business.

Working with FOX Sports professionals was such a rewarding and educational experience.

The thought-provoking assignment pushed us to work hard all semester to develop innovative ideas for our client.

Meagan Bak

Meagan Bak

Meagan was born and raised in Colorado before finding her way down South to attend Southern Methodist University. She spent her four years in Dallas exploring, studying abroad, and creating a career in Marketing; something she knew she wanted since she was little. She never faltered in that desire, and graduated with a B.B.A. in Marketing with minors in Psychology and Advertising. Being a huge extrovert, Meagan surrounds herself with people in everything she does. This is what lead her to be a Solution Specialist within the IBM sales force in San Francisco post college. When she isn’t at work, Meagan can be found skiing, playing with animals, or cheering on one of her favorite, but consistently poor preforming, sports teams.

The Fox Sports U program put me in a position where I was working with a team in a whole new setting. With deadlines, challenges, and the little victories along the way, I learned to work with a variety of people in a professional setting as opposed to a strictly educational one. That is one of the most valuable things I walked away with senior year.


The most difficult part about a transition into the work force is the perception of being too young or unprepared. Fox Sports gave me a chance to prove to myself, and my colleagues, that I was well versed in the ways of the professional world.


Fox Sports U was fun!! It was a great way to learn a ton about a company, how it works, and how to brainstorm ideas. It really bonds the team, and that is why I think we were so successful.


Spring 2016 Project Description

FOX Sports University challenged students at Southern Methodist University to develop a cohesive digital marketing plan that targets sports fans in the FOX Sports Southwest footprint. Students designed unique and creative strategies to increase engagement, reach new audiences, increase the potential for monetization across digital platforms, and ultimately drive tune-in.

Judy Foxman

Judy Foxman

Judy Foxman is Senior Lecturer of Marketing at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business in Dallas, where she teaches Fundamentals of Marketing, Sports Marketing, and the Honors Marketing Practicum in the BBA Program.  Additionally, Ms. Foxman has taught in the SMU Cox Executive Education Program and has served on the faculty of the SMU Cox Graduate Marketing Certificate Program. She is the recipient of the C. Jackson Grayson, Jr. Endowed Faculty Innovation Award and multiple teaching awards for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Ms. Foxman has also been selected twice for inclusion in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.”

Ms. Foxman is a graduate of Ithaca College where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications Management.  She received her Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Marketing from SMU Cox.

Prior to joining the faculty at the Cox School, Ms. Foxman worked in consumer products brand management at Drawing Board Greeting Card Company and Anderson Clayton Foods, and was a principal in the marketing consulting firm of Daniels & Foxman, Inc.
