Michelle Hantak is from St. Louis, Missouri, and has always been passionate about sports. While attending the University of Missouri, Hantak found her passion for sports communications by interning with the strategic communications office of Mizzou Athletics. Hantak also completed summer communications internships with the Show-Me STATE Games and the American Junior Golf Association. After graduation, Hantak began work as a communications coordinator with the American Junior Golf Association in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Working with FOX Sports University challenged me in so many different ways.  I was challenged to be a better communicator, better strategist and better teammate throughout the entire project.”

“Our contacts at FOX Sports University were extremely helpful with feedback and encouragement. Throughout the project, we worked to develop a positive relationship with the team at FOX Sports, which ultimately led to successful programming and campaign strategies.”

Bryndon Minter

Bryndon Minter

Bryndon is a senior from Overland Park, Kan., who graduated in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Journalism degree. Staying true to his KC roots, Bryndon enjoys nothing more than having a Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat paired with a Kansas City Royals win. Before moving on from Mizzou, Bryndon interned as a video editor for AdKarma’s video content team in Columbia, and served as art director on two campaigns in Prague and Tokyo with McCann Worldgroup. He will move to Dallas in June to join Slingshot LLC’s video production team. Bryndon is excited to expand his professional portfolio and will continue to be hungry to learn as much as he possibly can from whoever is willing to teach him. Bryndon plans to continue his professional career in commercial production and video editing.

“FOX Sports U encouraged us to push the boundaries with what we could accomplish with our talents and perspectives.”

“This experience was similar to that of a real-world agency, preparing us for plans after graduation.”

“As an advertising student who began college as a sports broadcast student, FOX Sports Live couldn’t have been a more perfect client to work on.”

“Once the program finished, I had more tangible creative executions that I can add to my creative portfolio.”

Colleen Barry

Colleen Barry

Colleen Barry is a recent graduate from the Missouri School of Journalism. She earned her Bachelor of Journalism, emphasis in Strategic Communication in May 2015, along with minors in business and English. Barry has always been an avid sports fan, her favorite sport being basketball. She continued her playing career on the club basketball team at Mizzou, while serving as Mizzou’s number one basketball fan. As a St. Louis native, Cardinal baseball is another tradition that Barry cherishes. In addition to playing and watching sports, Barry served as a marketing intern for the Mizzou Athletic department and utilized her public speaking skills as a brewery ambassador at the St. Louis Anheuser-Busch Brewery. Barry is interning this summer in the marketing department at FleishmanHillard in St. Louis. Her all time goal is to work in public relations for sports and become a high school basketball coach.

“It was a dream come true to work with a national client for my final capstone project. There could have been no better way to prepare me for my internship and the real world than to see what it’s like to create a campaign for a national client, such as FOX Sports Live.”

“The experience with FOX Sports Live was so unique because of how much they trusted us, as students, to create something for them. FOX Sports wanted us to be creative and they gave us total control. It was a real confidence boost to have that trust and freedom.”

“This project was different than most capstones because not only were we asked to create an ad campaign, we were asked to create programming recommendations for FOX Sports Live. Programming is not something I had ever had experience with before so it was exciting to work on something new.”

Luke Wiersma

Luke Wiersma

Luke Wiersma graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism in May of 2015, where his emphasis was in Strategic Communication. He is currently applying to graduate schools and attempting to publish a book. He hopes to work someday in research analytics for a professional sports team. As such, his hobbies include playing and watching sports, and when he’s not on the court or gridiron, you can find him hiking scenic trails in his hometown of Forest Lake, Minnesota.

“I’ve been watching FOX football on Sundays ever since I was a kid, and I never dreamed that I’d have the opportunity to work side by side with them!”

“The FOX executives have been the ultimate professionals. I was extremely proud to present all of our hard work to them at the end of the semester.”

“Working in sports promotions has always been a dream of mine, and this opportunity brings me one step closer to seeing that aspiration come to fruition!”

“College is supposed to be about lectures and book tests. FOX Sports University is leaps and bounds ahead of that.”
