Esabeau Neale

Esabeau Neale

Esabeau Neale is a junior at Marquette University from Racine, WI majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Advertising. Outside of her school work, she is a tutor for the athletic department and a student ambassador for Thrift/ed, a student organization on campus. After graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in event planning or media planning, but is open to new and exciting options that her career path might take her on. She hopes to use her passion for travel, communications, philanthropy, and new experiences in her future endeavors.

Julia Papillon

Julia Papillon

Julia Papillon is a senior from Gurnee, Illinois studying at Marquette University in the Diederich College of Communication. She is pursuing a major in Advertising and a minor in French. Julia plans to graduate in December of 2019 and hopes to start a career in Digital Media, Sports Marketing, or International Business. She currently works for Digipops.tv as a Social Media Consultant and as an intern for Athena Communications. Julia spends her time balancing school work, working as an agency signed full-time model, and performing on the Milwaukee Bucks Entertainment team “Hoop Troop”.

“I cannot begin to convey how refreshing it was to work on a real-world applied project. No other project has given me that. Fox Sports University has given me the opportunity to grow and become more confident in the work I produce.”

“Working with the Professional Bowling Association to develop this marketing campaign gave me a taste of what my career path could look like. The trust and creative license we were able to exercise was unlike any other academic endeavor I’ve ever participated in.”

Theresa Brennan

Theresa Brennan

Theresa Brennan is a junior at Marquette University working towards a major in Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Theresa currently resides in Oconomowoc, a suburb of Milwaukee. Outside of her busy school schedule, Theresa enjoys Marquette sports and is an avid basketball fan. She also enjoys visiting local farmers’ markets and restaurants. Theresa is adventurous and pushes herself outside of her comfort zone to learn from people in all walks of life and circumstances. Theresa is pursuing a career in Marketing and Public Relations to meet and work with new people and share her enthusiasm with them. 

“Having the opportunity to work with FOX Sports and the commissioner of the PBA was an experience I will never forget. Through working on this project, I was able to build confidence in my communication skills and research abilities.”

Jack Dore

Jack Dore

Jack Dore is a junior at Marquette University and is working toward a major in Advertising and a minor in Marketing.  Jack is from Glen Ellyn, IL, a suburb of Chicago.  Outside of the classroom, Jack has held an internship with the Marquette Hockey Team since sophomore year where he has managed the team’s social media and special promotions.  Jack is an avid Chicago sports fan, Marquette basketball fanatic, and is passionate about hiking and traveling.  After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career in Advertising focusing on social media initiatives to drive growth and brand awareness.

“Working with an organization like FOX Sports was a truly humbling experience. Being able to work with a real client provided us with a unique opportunity to truly immerse ourselves in the industry and showcase our skills.”

“The experience of working with a real business initiative for the PBA, getting the opportunity to interact and ask questions from the stakeholders, and presenting a comprehensive Promotional Ad plan that could be executed to those stakeholders was an extremely beneficial experience.”

“This project will stand out in my mind as one of my most rewarding experiences at Marquette. At times it was challenging but being able to present to the FOX Sports U representatives and PBA CEO, Tom Clark made the experience worthwhile.”

 

Fall 2018 Project Description

Communications students were challenged by FOX Sports to develop promotional activations in order to increase fan awareness, engagement, and viewership of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) on FOX and FS1.

 

Professor Profile

Dr. James Pokrywczynski

Dr. James Pokrywczynski

Dr. James Pokrywczynski is an Associate Professor in the Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University. He teaches courses in advertising, planning and research.  He has published research articles in the Journal of Advertising Research, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly and Newspaper Research Journal as well as trade publications such as Sports Business Journal on sports and event marketing, couponing, job satisfaction among advertising practitioners, and product placement in movies/television. He has spoken to over a dozen marketing trade organizations on sports sponsorship and product placement.

He completed his Ph. D. from the Grady College of Communication at the University of Georgia in 1986. He is married, no children, but has dogs around the house that are treated like kids.  He referees high school basketball in SE Wisconsin.
