Lara Hilapad

Lara Hilapad is from Oak Park, Illinois and will graduate in June 2016 from DePaul University. She will receive her Bachelor’s Degree from the School of Communications majoring in Public Relations/Advertising and a minor in Public Health. After graduation, she will be an account executive at Yelp. She has worked in both the public relations, marketing, and non-profit sectors. In the future, Lara wants to work for an advertising agency conducting research, analyzing insights, and create innovate campaigns.

“A unique component about this project is that it allowed me to see an entire process of how to create a campaign plan. When you get to be a part and create each step of the campaign plan, it shows you how each step is so important in order to create successful, data driven, final product”

Morgan Hellwig

Morgan Hellwig

Morgan is originally from Plymouth, Michigan and is currently a junior at DePaul University. She is specializing in Sports Public Relations and Marketing. She has had the opportunity to intern with the Chicago Bears in the Marketing department for the past year. This summer she will be joining the Fox Sports team in Los Angeles as their Marketing and Publicity intern. Morgan will return to Chicago in the fall to finish up her last year and intern with Riddell in the Public Relations department. After graduation she hopes to pursue a career in Sports Public Relations. Preferably for a media organization or team.

Gina Coleman

Gina Coleman

Gina is a Chicago native and DePaul senior graduating with a degree in Public Relations and Advertising in August 2016. Throughout her career at DePaul, she has focused on public relations and marketing with an emphasis on sports and events. She is currently an intern in Corporate Partnerships with the Joliet Slammers, a Frontier League baseball team, where she has had the opportunity to gain experiences in sports marketing, public relations, social media communications and digital content.. Upon graduating, she hopes to pursue a career in public relations and marketing communications in which she can explore her passion for the sports industry. As a fan of sports – specifically hockey –  and all things Chicago, her dream job is to one day work for the Chicago Blackhawks!

Spring 2016 Project Description

FOX Sports challenged DePaul University students to develop a digital branding campaign that will help casual sports fans increase awareness, understanding and excitement around NASCAR.

Michael Devlin

Michael Devlin

Michael “Mike” Devlin is an Assistant Professor of Advertising at DePaul University.  As an alumni of the University of Alabama (Ph.D 2013), he is no stranger to sports and the impact it has on the community and the economy.  His teaching and research interests include sports communication and creative advertising.  He is the author of six peer-reviewed journal publications and over 30 conference proceedings examining the intersection between sports communication and advertising effectiveness.
