Indya Martin

Indya Martin

Indya Martin is a senior at the University of Florida. She graduated in the Spring of 2012 with a B.S. in Advertising and a minor in Business Administration. After graduation, she plans to enroll in the Entrepreneurship Masters program at UF.

“Being in Fox [Sports] University was a great experience because it gave us the chance, as students, to work in the real world while still being in the classroom. I tried my absolute hardest to produce creative and strategic work because it was going to be judged and used by professionals at Fox Sports and Sun Sports. It was definitely a positive change from the traditional classroom learning experience.”

Kasey Anson

Kasey Anson

Kasey graduated from the University of Florida in April of 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in advertising and an outside concentration in business administration. She looks forward to attending an advertising portfolio school in order to fine-tune her copywriting skills.

Sarah Lynch

Sarah Lynch

Originally from Clearwater, Florida, Sarah will be graduating from the University of Florida in the Spring of 2012 with a B.S. in advertising. After graduation Sarah hopes to continue to build her skills in design and creative problem solving by either pursuing a job in the creative department of an agency or continuing her education at a portfolio school. Whichever path she chooses will be sure to lead her down the path to a fulfilling career in advertising.

Erika Gorsuch

Erika Gorsuch

From Indialantic, FL, Erika will graduate from UF in the Summer of 2011 with a B.S. in Advertising and a minor in Religion. Upon graduation she plans to marry her fiancée and move to Atlanta where they will raise support to move overseas to Asia to be long term missionaries. Erika loves advertising and greatly enjoyed working on the Fox Sports Florida campaign because it gave her a chance to use her creative skills while working with some of her good friends.

Autumn Norris

Autumn Norris

Originally from Crestview, FL, Autumn will graduate in the Spring of 2012 with a B.S. of Advertising and B.A. of Sociology from the University of Florida. After graduation, she hopes to work with strategic planning and consumer insight within an ad agency. She enjoys advertising because it solves problems with creativity. Autumn wants to use the great impact advertising has within our society today to help organizations and businesses that help others.

Spring 2011 Project Description

In the third year of the FOX Sports University program, SUN Sports once again teamed up with The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications’ Department of Advertising.

This class created strategic plans for SUN Sports digital platform which includes FOXSportsflorida.com & Gatorzone.com. A select group of 11 students participated in the course, aimed at developing content and multi-platform marketing campaigns for the online and social networking sites.

 

Professor Profile

Robyn Goodman

Robyn Goodman

Goodman earned her Ph.D. at the University of Texas in 2000. Her dissertation was “Mirroring Mediated Images of Women: How Media Images of Thin Women Influence Eating Disorder-Related Behaviors and Women’s Negotiations of These Images.” She received her M.A. in mass communications at the University of Texas and a B.J. in magazine journalism at the University of Missouri.

Prior to graduate school, she was a sports reporter and later on a feature page and Sunday magazine designer at the Columbia Missourian. After leaving Missouri, she worked as an advertising graphic designer at the Iowa City Press-Citizen. In 1995, she entered graduate school while also working in public relations at the Texas Petroleum and Convenience Store Association and soon after as a freelance graphic designer and public relations consultant on several projects including a Lawrence Erlbaum book cover and printed materials for the American Society of Civil Engineers. Her work with Fox Sports has earned her a bronze Telly and a silver regional Addy.

She has been recognized and received awards for her scholastic work and teaching including a university fellowship that is awarded to the top 5 continuing doctoral students at the University of Texas, top conference papers from ICA, AEJMC, and AMHCR, and the International Communication Association’s award for excellence in teaching by a graduate student. Her work is published in Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Visual Communication Quarterly, and Public Understanding of Science.

She teaches Copywriting and Visualization and Advanced Creative at the undergraduate level.  Graduate courses include Advertising Research Methods and Visual Communication Theory and Method.

Her research interests are visual communication, health communications, and gender, race, and media.  Her current research looks at media and cosmetic surgery and emotional responses to beauty types in advertising.
