Meaghan Johnson

Meaghan received her degree in journalism with an emphasis in strategic communication from the University of Missouri. Her goal is to be an account executive for a larger advertising agency back in Chicago. She enjoys the fine arts and taking part in theatre.

Amanda Darr

Amanda Darr

Amanda is a Strategic Communication major from St. Louis, MO. She will also receive minors in Spanish and Business. She loves music and travel, and her dream job would incorporate both.

“Working with Fox Sports Midwest was an experience that really prepared me for work in the advertising industry. We had full responsibility for the campaign but also got really great feedback from professionals who knew how everything worked. The opportunity to actually be involved in the production of our concept made the project especially meaningful, and it made my last semester at the Missouri School of Journalism my favorite by far.”

Jessica Beezhold

Jessica Beezhold

Jessica is a strategic communication major with a minor in political science. When she graduates she will be pursing a career in interactive and digital media strategy. Jessica is a political junkie who hopes to use her advertising know-how to work in politics.

“Working with FOX Sports Midwest and [FOX Sports] University has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences that I had at the University of Missouri. We put so much energy and heart into the project that we couldn’t wait to present our concept. This was the last thing that I did as an undergrad and I will never forget it.”

Chelsea George

Chelsea George

Chelsea is a Strategic Communications major from San Diego. She has a passion for the music industry and hopes to get into marketing and/or talent buying for a music venue in southern California. She has worked on production and promotion teams for the Belly Up in San Diego and The Blue Note in Columbia, MO.

“With the perfect amount of direction, Fox Sports Midwest let us create a campaign using our own ideas and our own work. Their feedback united us as a group and motivated us to work harder and smarter.”

Melissa Schaller

Melissa Schaller

Melissa Schaller is graduating from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Business. Upon graduation, Melissa will work as an intern at Fleishman-Hillard in her hometown, St. Louis, Missouri.

“I was ecstatic when I found out FOX Sports Midwest was our client for the semester. The experiences we gained from this opportunity were unlike anything I’ve ever learned in the classroom. I could not have asked for a better way to end my college career.”

Audrey Gardner

Audrey Gardner

Audrey is a strategic communication major at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She graduated in May and landed an internship at Socket in Columbia, MO. Her goal after completing her internship is to work in a bigger city in either public relations or event planning.

“My experience with [FOX Sports] U so far has been amazing. It is a great opportunity for college students to gain knowledge in campaign development through hands on experience. I have learned so much so far and it will truly be amazing to watch our campaign come to life.”

Kristen Casavale

Kristen Casavale

Kristen has a degree in journalism and a minor in business from the University of Missouri. She is a sports fanatic and her ultimate career goal is to work in marketing for an NFL team.

“Working with Fox Sports Midwest and [FOX Sports] University this semester has been an extremely valuable experience. We were able to go through the entire creative process from start to finish and work together to create a winning campaign. Seeing our concept implemented is an added bonus and I’m glad to have been given this opportunity.”

Benjamin Liu

Benjamin Liu

Ben graduates from the University of Missouri in August 2011 with a Bachelor of Journalism degree, with an emphasis in Strategic Communication, and minors in Business and Psychology.  He wishes to work in creative direction in a great advertising agency.

“Learning that our group would work with FOX Sports Midwest and be in a mini-competition was quite a thrill.  It was both exciting and intimidating to have such a real opportunity.  Things were definitely and occasionally rough, but it was relieving to finally see ideas coming together cohesively and taking shape into the campaign.”

 

Spring 2011 Project Description

FOX Sports Midwest teamed up with the University of Missouri in late 2010 for the partnership’s first FOX Sports University program. Check out the new spots added onto the site – previews of what you’ll see on air on FS Midwest this Fall. Every Game Matters, on FS Midwest!

 

Professor Profile

SCOTT FUENFHAUSEN

SCOTT FUENFHAUSEN

SCOTT FUENFHAUSEN, BJ ’86, is an instructor for AdZou, the strategic communication capstone course. Before coming to Columbia, Fuenfhausen worked in advertising on the client side for a Fortune 500 business-to-business company in St. Louis. After five years, Fuenfhausen moved into the agency side of the industry and worked in account services for advertising agencies in St. Louis and Chicago for the next 12 years. His work included numerous consumer as well as industrial accounts including: Hostess, Wonder Bread, Char-Broil grills, Texas Boot Company, Schlage, Behr Paint and American Trans Air. Fuenfhausen received his MBA from Fontbonne University in St. Louis and his teaching certification from Avila University in Kansas City.
