Working with FOX Sports and the USGA an incredibly enlightening experience and one that I will never forget.

FOX Sports University provided us with a fun and challenging project that allowed us to apply what we learned in the classroom to the real-world.

The experience with FOX Sports University clearly ranks as one of the best of my college career – from applying class theory to working collaboratively with classmates.

Diego Rios

Diego Rios

Diego Rios is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended Southwest High School where he was a soccer captain and was very involved with the school on and off the field. Diego now attends Marquette University where he is a junior in the Diederich College of Communications majoring in Public Relations with a minor in Advertising. Diego’s career interests are to work for a sports organization in the communications department. His personal interests include, playing soccer for the Marquette club team, golfing, and traveling.

I loved getting the opportunity to work with FOX Sports and the USGA on one of the biggest golf tournaments in the world.

This was a one of a kind experience that I was very fortunate to be apart of, I will take this with me throughout my career and continue to apply the many things I learned throughout this process.

FOX Sports U gave our class the opportunity to see our ideas turn into reality on one of the biggest stages in sports, it was by far the best class I have taken!

Drew Albrecht

Drew Albrecht

Drew is from Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He attended Glenbard West High School and participated in basketball, baseball, and the school’s anti-drug and alcohol student organization. Drew also developed a passion for studio arts, which greatly fuels his creativity and interests in advertising field today.  At Marquette, Drew will complete a degree in advertising and public relations through the Diederich College of Communication. He has held an internship with the Better Business Bureau of Wisconsin which helped tighten his knowledge of good business and ethics in business. Drew also learned more about website analytics and operating social media pages through the BBB. Drew’s hopes for the future include but are not limited to becoming a Creative Director or Art Director, moving to Portland to pursue employment at his dream agency, Wieden+Kennedy, and creating a Super Bowl ad campaign.  Today, Drew’s greatest passions are in basketball, fitness, graphic design, sneakers, making healthier decisions in life, and valuing hard work just as much as play.

Having the pleasure to work with FOX Sports and the USGA was one of the best real world client experiences I’ve had in college because other outside organizations, consumers, and fans will get to partake in some of our original promotional ideas later this summer.

The opportunity put on through the FOX Sports University program is a one of a kind experience because students feel equal to the corporate FOX Sports team, working hand in hand to create a plan over the course of a semester.

Providing promotional ideas for FOX Sports and particularly the 2017 U.S. Open was exceptionally beneficial to myself and other students considering the millennial market can be challenging to appeal to.

Nick Thorn

Nick Thorn

Nick is a Senior at Marquette majoring in Corporate Communication and minoring in Marketing and Public Relations. His career interests lie with anything to do with sports, particularly working for a sports marketing team, or sports public relations team. Nick has always been interested in sports whether it be baseball, basketball, golf, tennis, or football. He loves being outside and being active, whether that be hiking, biking, running, or playing sports at the beach. Lately, Nick has become interested in analytics in sports and have begun reading books on anayltics in basketball and baseball.

I really enjoyed the hands on experience of working on a real marketing project and I look forward to seeing the results come to action in the summer.

I enjoyed the experience of being able to work with Fox Sports executives to come up with different promotional ideas to help promote a real note worthy event, something that the entire nation can see.

I loved how we got to see the golf course and how it was set up so we know what the players will be going through as they try to navigate each hole, avoiding the bunkers and rough grassy areas.
