Allison Peters

Allison Peters

Allison is from Palos Hills, Illinois where she attended Amos Alonzo Stagg High School. She is currently a sophomore at Marquette University majoring in Communication Studies and planning to minor in Public Relations. She is an avid fan of Chicago sports including the Chicago Blackhawks, Bears, and Bulls. Her future career plans include perusing a career within the sports industry within the public relations or human resources department. She hopes to combine her love of sports with her communication skills and passion for helping people.

Manny Pierre

Manny Pierre

Manny Pierre is from Boston, Massachusetts. This spring Manny will be graduating from Marquette University with a degree in Communications and a minor in public relations. After graduation Manny will be pursuing a career in either sports marketing or public relations as a social media analyst.

“Working with Fox Sports Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bucks was a great opportunity and experience for me. I will definitely use this experience while pursuing my career aspirations.”

Sam Stolte

Sam Stolte

Sam Stolte

Sam is from Edwardsville, Illinois, where he attended Edwardsville High School playing baseball and basketball for the Tigers. Sam headed north to Marquette University to shift his focus towards academics. At Marquette Sam majors in Public Relations, while minoring in Marketing and Advertising. Sam has held a position with the Marquette University athletic department since his freshman year as a media relations assistant. Sam helps foster increased awareness for Marquette athletics by crafting press releases, designing various game programs and tending to the needs of the media. He also held an internship at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, acting as a sports information intern. Sam also stays active in his first love, baseball, by serving as a certified state umpire for the past three summers. Through his studies and his time in the work place, Sam has developed a strong work ethic and has gained a wealth of experience doing so. He would like to work in a sales or marketing position once he graduates in May, and would love to work in the sports world if the opportunity presents itself.

Jacob Born

Jacob Born

Jacob Born is a senior at Marquette majoring in journalism with a minor in marketing. Jacob is the Sports Director of the Marquette Wire, Marquette’s student media, as well as working at ESPN Milwaukee and in MLB Advanced Media. After graduation, he would like to cover sports in print, whether that is for a newspaper, magazine, or online. Jacob would also like to work in social media for a sports franchise or league. Ideally, Jacob would like to cover hockey and eventually end up in the front office of an NHL team as the Director of Communications. Jacob is also a brother of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Fall 2014 Project Description

For the first time, FOX Sports Wisconsin and Marquette’s Diederich College of Communications partnered together with the Milwaukee Bucks NBA team through FOX Sports University. Students were tasked with creating promotional campaigns focused on increasing excitement, awareness, and viewership for the Bucks’ 2015 season.

Dr. James Pokrywczynski

Dr. James Pokrywczynski

Dr. James Pokrywczynski is an Associate Professor in the Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University. He teaches courses in advertising, planning and research.  He has published research articles in the Journal of Advertising Research, Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly and Newspaper Research Journal as well as trade publications such as Sports Business Journal on sports and event marketing, couponing, job satisfaction among advertising practitioners, and product placement in movies/television.   He has spoken to over a dozen marketing trade organizations on sports sponsorship and product placement.

He completed his Ph. D. from the Grady College of Communication at the University of Georgia in 1986. He is married, no children, but has dogs around the house that are treated like kids.  He referees high school basketball in SE Wisconsin.
