Spring 2017 Project Description

21CF Social Impact and Major League Baseball teamed up to challenge PR Campaigns students to develop an over-arching messaging strategy that FOX Sports and MLB can use to enhance their existing partnership and raise awareness for joint sustainability efforts.

Don Ingle

Don Ingle

Don Ingle is known an as “experiential educator” at DePaul, one who brings 35+ years of corporate and agency public relations background to the classroom. He began teaching at DePaul in 2011 as an adjunct professor and joined full time in January, 2016.

 

In his professional career, Don spent 20 years in the public relations and advertising agency business. This included seven years at Burson-Marsteller, then the world’s largest PR firm, working for Procter & Gamble and other large consumer and sports businesses. He was a senior manager at Golin on the agency’s largest and longest-standing account, McDonald’s Corp.  He also worked at ad agency Cramer-Krasselt where he established a public relations practice, which quickly grew to a top 30 PR firm. He also has corporate and not-for-profit PR experience.

 

Sports highlights

Don has extensive experience in sports marketing and sports public relations. He negotiated Olympic sponsorships (U.S.A. Soccer, U.S.A. Gymanstics) and an auto racing program for Procter & Gamble for various brands.

He managed McDonald’s sports PR programs for three plus years in the late ‘80s, early ‘90s. This included the McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Game, as well as creating a sponsorship for the company’s Ronald McDonald’s Charities arm to be the beneficiary of Greg Norman’s PGA invitational shootout tournament. He also created a sponsorship with Sports Illustrated for Kids featuring Michael Jordan and Jackie Joyner Kersee for a national schools education program.

Over the years, he has worked with every major professional sports league. He has worked with dozens of professional athletes, including Michael Jordan during his playing career – he likes to brag about this – a dozen times.  Also, Chris Evert, George Brett, Dikembe Mutomdo, to name a few. He has publicized seven Super Bowl commercials and other activities for McDonald’s, Master Lock and Wilson Sporting Goods.
