Riley Goodman

Riley Goodman

Riley graduated in May from The University of Alabama with a double major in Advertising and Art with a concentration in Graphic Design. She is now moving to Charlotte, NC to start a career in graphic design with Proverbs 31 Ministries.

“Fox Sports U gave me an incredible hands-on learning experience. It encouraged our team to be creative and to view a brand through the eyes of a consumer.”

Lauren Nida

Lauren Nida

Lauren is from Chattanooga, Tennessee and is a May 2015 graduate from The University of Alabama with duel majors in advertising and communication studies. She plans to move to Nashville, TN or Dallas, TX this summer to pursue a career in media planning or non-profit marketing. In college, she completed 11 internships and gained experience in various industries, including healthcare, radio, retail, non-profit and higher education among others.

“When the going gets tough, the tough get going” couldn’t explain this experience more. It was a lot of work but was one of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve had. It challenged me and combined all the advertising and communication topics I learned in college.”

“Working with FOX Sports and @TheBuzzer was a great, invaluable experience that many others will never have the opportunity to do. The representatives were great and always seemed eager to see what we could product.”

Allie Hatchett

Allie Hatchett

Creative, passionate, and spontaneous, Allie Hatchett is always experiencing something new. She attended the University of Alabama on the Ruth King Larcom art scholarship, and served as a Crimsonette in The Million Dollar Band for four years. Allie has always been a part of a team growing up, and enjoys working closely with others to achieve a common goal. A natural born artist, it has been a personal goal to let her creative-thinking skills and artistic ability shine throughout all aspects of her life. After careful consideration, she decided that a career path in advertising and graphic art would encompass all of her strengths. Allie is always looking to travel and take chances, constantly striving to better herself and learn about the world around her. A recent graduate, she now hopes to land a job that allows her to meet many different kinds of people while sharing ideas that inspire creativity in others.

“FOX Sports did a great job making this project both relatable and challenging. I honestly had a blast presenting our campaign and feel that our ideas were genuinely considered.”

“Of all my college classes, the @TheBuzzer campaign had one of the most daunting workloads but also one of the most rewarding outcomes.”

Payton Brown

Payton Brown

Payton Brown is from Flower Mound, Texas and graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2015. While earning her B.A. in advertising and minor in business management, she was involved in many advertising-related extracurricular organizations such as Capstone Agency and the National Student Advertising Competition. She plans to move to New York City in June 2015 and pursue an advertising agency career in account management. Through her time as the Account Executive on her FOX Sports U team and previous account management internship at Grey New York, she has developed a passion for team-based work, campaign development and client services.

“Developing a campaign for FOX Sport’s brand @TheBuzzer gave our team the unique opportunity to use research insights and personal experience to reach millennial sports fans in an authentic way.”

Esther Workman

Esther Workman

A Montgomery, AL native, Esther graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama in May 2015. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, with a double major in theatre. Esther’s previous work experience includes multiple areas of sports management including ticket sales, marketing, strategy and events. She hopes to one day pursue a Master’s degree in business administration and sports management.

“The opportunity to work for a big-time client and effect positive change in the sports media industry was an incredibly humbling experience.”

“The competition aspect added a “real world” look and feel to the class. We were challenged to create something innovative and fresh while staying true to the Fox Sports brand.”

“Participating in the Fox Sports U program is something I am extremely proud of. By and large, my favorite college class.”

Kristin Clark

Kristin Clark

Kristin Clark is a May 2015 Advertising and Art graduate of the University of Alabama. She’s moving to New York City starting June 1st for a creative internship at BBDO Worldwide, which was just named ‘The Worlds Most Effective Agency’. The internship was sparked by her teams winning of a Gold Pencil in the One Show Client Pitch Competition that took place on May 5th in NYC, where her team pitched an ad campaign live in front of creative professionals. She’s an aspiring Art Director and Digital Content creator. She loves a cold brew and checking out local musicians. She is also an illustrator and creates digital art pieces in her spare time.

Annie Hildreth

Annie Hildreth

Annie Hildreth is from Mineral Springs, North Carolina, located just south of Charlotte. She graduated from the School of Communications at The University of Alabama in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s in Public Relations. Annie has just recently accepted an offer from Yelp to be an Account Executive, where she will be moving to Phoenix to pursue this career in August 2015. In her spare time, you can find Annie in a local Crossfit gym or outdoors running through the woods with her dog. She is extremely passionate about sports, and will always be seen cheering on her Carolina Panthers, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Manchester United teams.

“Never take advantage of time. Use every second of it. In the end, the feeling of “champions” is totally worth it.”

Spring 2015 Project Description

Students developed a comprehensive marketing plan to promote “The Buzzer” across college campuses.  Research focused on content, style and delivery in order to continue to grow and strengthen awareness for these videos within a college audience.

Kenon Brown

Kenon Brown

After completing his doctoral studies at The University of Alabama, Kenon A. Brown joined its Department of Advertising and Public Relations in August 2012 as a assistant professor. Prior to his academic appointment, Kenon worked for eight years in restaurant management and marketing, while also conducting independent media training for several smaller non-profit organizations and local businesses. His teaching specialties include strategic communication management, research methods and communication campaign planning. Keeping with his practitioner roots, Kenon also consults with several regional and national clients, specifically assisting with market research and strategic planning.
