Samantha Lloyd

Samantha Lloyd

Samantha Lloyd is a senior broadcast journalism major at Arizona State University. During her time at ASU, Samantha interned and freelanced with the Arizona Republic covering high school sports in the Valley and is set to intern with 620 KTAR in the Fall 2011. Samantha was lucky enough to study abroad in Australia for a semester, as well as do a business journalism course in China for two weeks. Her career aspirations involve anything with a camera, travel and wildlife.

“I never thought I could put a class assignment on my resume, but this experience has definately taught me a lot about the sports marketing world and all that comes with it.”

Johnny Richard Gutierrez

Johnny Richard Gutierrez

Johnny Richard Gutierrez is a senior at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University.  He is a broadcast journalism major with dreams to one day have his own radio show all about sports. He was an intern at KTAR during the second semester of his freshman year, an intern at XTRA Sports 910 during the first semester of his sophomore year, and is currently a dbTV intern with the Arizona Diamondbacks for the 2011 Major League Baseball season.  He also spent his first two and a half years of college working for The Blaze, the official campus radio station.  He is very excited to have the opportunity to help out with the Creative U project and can’t wait to see the finished product!

“The amount of knowledge and experience that I gained throughout this whole process was priceless.  I have never felt so accomplished and am truly proud of all that I have achieved in this class.”

Kimberly Ruiz

Kimberly Ruiz

Kimberly Ruiz is a senior at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis on broadcast.  Kimberly interns at Sports 620 KTAR and will be graduating in December of this year.  She has decided to return to school to get my MBA in Marketing, with the hopes of working in sports.  She loves to travel and has been to twelve countries so far and hopes to see that number increase!

“Instead of going to class to solely receive information, I was given the opportunity to apply that information to create a marketing campaign and work with professionals.  I haven’t had the chance to do this anywhere else.”

“This experience and what I have learned have prepared me for the job market in more ways than any other class I have taken.  Not only that, it has encouraged me to think of other career avenues I never would have considered.”

Danni Marie Vicha

Danni Marie Vicha

Danni Marie Vicha received her Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism from ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications in May 2011. “The [FOX Sports] U program has enabled us as journalists to dream. If it weren’t for this program, I never would have had such an opportunity to contribute innovative ideas or receive real life sports marketing experience.”

Rachel Korchin

Rachel Korchin

Rachel Korchin is entering her senior year in Fall 2011 at Arizona State University majoring in Public Relations. She enjoys sports, especially hockey, and aspires to work in the sports marketing and/or community relations departments for a team, company or broadcast partner involved with the four major leagues. Rachel has been an Event Presentation intern for the Phoenix Coyotes for the past three seasons. She has also interned with AEG Worldwide and Zion & Zion. Rachel will graduate in May, 2012 with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications.

“[FOX Sports] University was a fantastic class which allowed us, as students, to get real, hands-on experience within the sports marketing world. Competing for the chance to have our own campaigns run on Fox Sports Arizona is an amazing opportunity, and is something that no other program or class could offer. I wish I could take it every semester.”

Jesse Haws

Jesse Haws

Jesse Haws is a senior majoring in broadcast journalism at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.  Jesse interned last Summer (2010) with the KPNX – Channel 12 sports department and was hired last Fall to help with their high school football show “Friday Night Fever” as a multimedia journalist.  He enjoys being behind-the-scenes and would love to be a sports producer somewhere down the road.

“Working with Fox Sports Arizona and the [FOX Sports] University program was a lot of fun because it gave me real world experience. The challenges that came with developing a marketing campaign and the nerves that accompanied the final presentation made the class seem like a real job. It was probably the most helpful class I took in college.”
