Matt Denapoles

Matt was born and raised is Stamford CT and grew up as a huge sports fan. Matt graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in December, which he chose for a new adventure. His experiences in the journalism program made ASU the best decision of his life. Matt aspires to become a sports anchor and reporter.

Greg Dillard

Greg Dillard

Greg is a recent graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. As a lifelong Arizona native, he is an avid Arizona sports fan and proud Sun Devil. Greg recently completed internships with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Phoenix Coyotes, and XTRA Sports 910.

“The [FOX Sports] U program at ASU was a tremendous experience from start to finish. Our group really worked hard to not only understand Fox Sports Arizona’s desires and expectations for the marketing campaign, but to meet them as well. We had fun bouncing ideas off of each other and then producing our final product.”

“I’m really proud of the work our group produced at the end of the semester. Our slogan “We Bring the Future Home” fits perfectly with FSN Arizona’s “We Bring the Game Home” marketing campaign. Overall, it was an outstanding opportunity to work with Fox Sports all semester long.”

Erika Baggs

Erika Baggs

Erika graduated from Arizona State University in December of 2011. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication with an emphasis in public relations and a minor in human communications. Erika is a born a raised Arizonan with a love of marketing and sports.

“Throughout the semester our groups we were able to develop and create potential marketing campaigns for high school football and basketball programs.”

Nick Licalzi

Nick Licalzi

Nick Licalzi is a 2012 graduate from Arizona State University’s, Walter Cronkite school of Journalism and Mass Communications. Since graduating, Licalzi has been working at SportsNet New York as a production assistant and field producer. While at ASU, Licalzi co-founded the Walter Cronkite Hockey Broadcasting Organization (WCHBO), which broadcasted games for the Sun Devils ACHA Division I hockey team and the Arizona RedHawks of the WSHL. He was the play by play announcer for the Sun Devils broadcasts, which were deemed the “poster child” by FASThockey.com for what a good broadcast can look like. As the broadcasting director for the RedHawks, the broadcasts were crowned the best in the WSHL by the league commissioner. Licalzi has broadcasted Team USA’s World Junior Championship Camp against team Finland and team Sweden the past two summers. The WCHBO as a whole was in charge of the 2011 summer camp, as well as the 2012 USA hockey High School National Championships.

Jacob Bash

Jacob Bash

Jacob Bash was raised in Los Angeles, California.  He graduated from the Walter Cronkite School in December, 2012 with a degree in journalism.  As an avid sports fan, Jacob has grown up rooting for LA sports, especially following the Angels.  He has held internships with 92.3 KTAR, CBS Channel 5 and The Arizona Diamondbacks. Jacob hopes to pursue a career in sales upon graduation.

Fall 2011 Project Description

FOX Sports Arizona partnered with the Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication for the fourth consecutive semester for its “Sports Marketing & Campaigns” class. The Fall 2011 semester’s class project tasked students to create an all-inclusive marketing campaign for FOX Sports Arizona’s television and internet coverage of the Arizona Interscholastic Association. The main objectives included increasing viewership, improving awareness and driving home the fact that FOX Sports Arizona and FOXSportsArizona.com are the homes for the best coverage of Arizona high school athletics. The goal of the plan involved elevating the FOX Sports Arizona & AIA brands and partnerships.

Eric Fischer

Eric Fischer

A 20+ year marketing, media, sales and sponsorship veteran who has worked to create innovative, integrated marketing, media and content platforms to drive revenues for global media organizations.  With a career spanning the agency, client, league and vendor perspective, Eric has worked at a senior management level within several of the most well-respected global media organizations including Clear Channel, Disney, Fox, McCann-Erickson Worldwide, MGM, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.  In these roles, he has been fortunate work with several of the world’s leading marketers such as Anheuser-Busch,  Coca-Cola, Dell, Electronic Arts, Fedex, Gatorade, Microsoft, Nestle USA, Sprite, Taco Bell, T-Mobile and Yahoo!, to develop, build and execute media-based marketing solutions that drive business results.

As Vice President, Global Media Solutions for the NBA, Eric was responsible for leading the league’s digital sponsorship and media innovation across its 75+ marketing partners across the NBA, WNBA, NBA Development League, USA Basketball as well as the Basketball Hall of Fame.

As Regional Vice President of Clear Channel Advantage, Eric led west coast efforts to create cross-platform marketing initiatives including developing customized media solutions involving 1,200+ local radio stations and the digital platforms for nationally syndicated personalities such as Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Jim Rome.

Most recently and before joining LifeLock, Eric was SVP, Content and Sponsorship at Digital Artists, working with the largest global brands to develop innovative social media programs taking advantage of world’s most famous athletes and team’s social media graph.  In addition Eric continues to consult start up and early stage companies within the sports and digital media innovation space.
